6th Form Site visits

Recently, we organised an educational site visit for 6th form students at a new build construction site, providing them with a unique opportunity to experience the construction industry firsthand. The visit aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications, allowing students to gain insight into the various stages of construction.

Upon arrival, students were greeted by our Project Manager, who provided an overview of the project’s scope and significance. As they toured the site, students observed key processes such as foundation work, structural walls and installation of essential mechanical and electrical services. The hands-on experience enabled them to see construction techniques in action and understand the roles of different professionals on-site.

Interactive discussions allowed students to ask questions about career pathways in construction, safety protocols, and the importance of sustainable building practices. Feedback from participants was enthusiastic, with many expressing newfound interest in pursuing careers in the construction field. This visit not only enhanced their understanding of the industry but also inspired the next generation of builders and innovators. We look forward to facilitating more educational visits in the future.

Many thanks for today the group are still talking about it now. It definitely will be of benefit when we continue with our exam unit. Please pass on my thanks to the team for their support and information given.” – DT & Construction Teacher
