A two-phase roof replacement project was successfully delivered at a live secondary school, requiring careful planning and coordination to maintain safety and minimise disruption to teaching and learning throughout the works.
The project encompassed both pitched and flat roof areas. The main pitched roof formed the majority of the works and involved the removal of existing tiles, lead, and boarding, followed by the installation of new felt, battens, tiles, and leadwork. Roof void compartmentation was also completed to enhance safety and ensure compliance with current regulations.
The second phase focused on the administration block, where the existing flat roof coverings were removed and replaced with a new, high-performance flat roof system. This phase also included the temporary disconnection and reconnection of lighting to facilitate the works safely and efficiently.
Delivering works within a live school environment required close collaboration with the school’s management team. Detailed planning and phased sequencing ensured the safety of students, staff, and site operatives, while maintaining continuity of school operations.
The completed works provided the school with fully compliant pitched and flat roofing systems, offering durable, low-maintenance solutions that improve weather protection, enhance fire safety, and secure a long-term, safe learning environment for staff and students.
