A comprehensive library refurbishment project was successfully delivered, encompassing a wide programme of internal and external upgrades designed to improve safety, accessibility, and user experience.
Externally, the works included repairs to cladding, brise soleil, roofs, guard rails, windows, doors, and brickwork, complemented by full redecoration to enhance the building’s appearance and durability.
Internally, the project involved strip-out, damp proofing, and new drainage installations, alongside the creation of second-floor offices and new staff and DDA-compliant WCs fitted with fire-rated doors. Mechanical and electrical works included first- and second-fix installations, a new fire alarm system, CCTV, and a lift to improve accessibility. Additional enhancements comprised kitchenettes, ceilings, wall repairs, new carpets and vinyl flooring, barrier matting, and a bespoke reception desk.
Collaboration with library management ensured the works were phased efficiently, maintaining safety and accessibility throughout the project.
The completed refurbishment has provided a modern, functional, and welcoming library space, offering improved facilities, enhanced safety, and a revitalised environment for staff, visitors, and the wider community.
