Mottingham Library Reopens Following Major Refurbishment Delivered by Longley

26/11/2025 Longley has joined Bromley Council in celebrating the official reopening of Mottingham Library, following a comprehensive programme of refurbishment and modernisation.

The project, completed on behalf of Bromley Council, included significant upgrades throughout the building. Works delivered by Longley comprised the installation of a new heating system, energy-efficient LED lighting, an improved internal layout, a new accessible toilet, new flooring, window and door replacements, a refurbished roof, and enhancements to the library’s garden. The children’s area has also been revitalised with a bespoke mural inspired by the nearby Foxes Field.

Mottingham Library is now a Transformation Library, offering an expanded range of creative and digital facilities for local residents. New features include a podcasting studio, coding equipment, a 3D printer with associated craft technologies, virtual reality headsets, and the UK’s first Cubbie sensory pod, designed to support autistic and neurodivergent visitors.

The Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Jonathan Andrews, formally reopened the building and welcomed the community to explore the upgraded space during a programme of demonstrations, family activities, and guided tours.

Longley is proud to have supported Bromley Council in delivering a modern, inclusive, and future-focused library that enables local people to learn, create, and connect.
