Longley Team Inspires Year 7 Pupils at ICHS with Green Careers Workshop

20/11/2025 Members of the Longley team visited Ilford County High School (ICHS) on Thursday 20th November to deliver an engaging Green Careers workshop for Year 7 pupils, building on the strong relationship established through several previous projects, including the school’s recent roof replacement.

Representatives Sam, Steve and Rebecca introduced students to Longley’s work and explored the wide range of career opportunities available within the construction industry. The session highlighted the skills and qualifications that support progression in the sector and encouraged pupils to consider how their interests could align with future roles in construction.

Sustainability formed a central part of the discussion. Pupils learned about eco-friendly building materials, furniture reuse, the principles of the circular economy, decomposition timelines, and the ways Longley reduces energy consumption across its operations. The team also shared insights into the company’s ISO accreditations, demonstrated real project examples, and explained the importance of employing local labour to support community growth.

The workshop concluded with an interactive quiz — with Amazon vouchers awarded to the winners — followed by the launch of a Green Building Challenge for students to complete in the coming weeks.

Longley extends its thanks to ICHS for the invitation and looks forward to continuing its partnership with the school while inspiring the next generation of environmentally conscious builders.
