27/08/26 With the summer holidays drawing to a close and students preparing to return, our teams are entering the final stages of a busy programme of works across the UK.
This summer, Longley has been delivering 17 projects across London, Essex, Manchester, Exeter, and Birmingham, spanning the Education and Student Accommodation sectors.
The six-week summer holiday period is traditionally one of the busiest times of the year for our teams. With schools, colleges and accommodation providers taking advantage of quieter buildings to undertake essential improvements, programmes need to be carefully planned and efficiently delivered within a relatively short window.

Our 2026 summer programme has involved a diverse range of projects and disciplines, including:
Since works began, our project and site teams have been working across all five regions to keep programmes moving safely and efficiently, coordinating trades, managing live environments where required and maintaining the high standards expected by our clients.
With the end of August approaching, a number of projects are now reaching completion, while the remaining works progress towards handover at the end of the month and into the first week of September.
Delivering Against the Summer Deadline
For projects within the education sector, the summer programme brings a particular challenge: the deadline doesn’t move.
Classrooms, teaching spaces and essential facilities need to be ready for staff and students returning for the new academic year. Careful pre-construction planning, procurement and coordination are therefore critical long before teams arrive on site.
The same principles apply across our student accommodation projects, where works must be completed and spaces prepared ahead of residents arriving for the new academic year.
Across the programme, our focus has remained consistent: delivering each project safely, efficiently and to the highest standard, while working closely with our clients and supply-chain partners to achieve the required completion dates.
Creating Better Spaces for Learning and Living
As the final weeks of the programme get underway, we’re proud to see the progress being made across all 17 projects.
From improved classrooms and SEN facilities to upgraded building services, roofing and specialist external works, each project represents an investment in the buildings and spaces that students will use every day.
