Library – Refurbishment
Client: Local Authority
Sector: Commercial
Value:

A comprehensive library transformation project was successfully delivered, comprising a wide range of internal, external, and technological upgrades designed to enhance accessibility, sustainability, and community engagement.

Externally, the works included window and door replacements, refurbishment of the roof, and improvements to the surrounding garden, creating a more welcoming and durable environment. Internally, the layout was refreshed and modernised, supported by the installation of a new heating system, energy-efficient LED lighting, new flooring, and a fully accessible WC, significantly improving comfort, usability, and operational efficiency throughout the building.

The children’s area was transformed with the addition of a bespoke mural inspired by the local Foxes Field, creating an engaging and vibrant space for younger visitors.

The refurbished library is now designated as a ‘Transformation Library’, incorporating a range of innovative facilities to support learning, creativity, and digital inclusion. These include a dedicated podcasting studio, coding equipment, a 3D printer and craft technology, virtual reality headsets, and the UK’s first Cubbie sensory pod, providing vital support for autistic and neurodivergent users.

The completed project has created a modern, inclusive, and future-focused library, offering enhanced facilities and inspiring spaces where the community can learn, create, and connect.
