Nursery – New Build Block
Client: Education Estate Management Consultant
Sector: Education
Value: £700,000.00

A 35-week project was undertaken to replace an outdated nursery block at a primary school in Kent, delivering a modern, functional learning environment tailored to early years education. The scheme was designed to enhance the quality of facilities for both students and staff.

To ensure continuity of education, temporary classrooms were installed prior to any demolition work. This allowed teaching to continue safely and without disruption while the existing nursery block was dismantled.

Following demolition, extensive groundwork was completed, including new foundations and the installation of essential utilities. The new structure was built using a durable brick and blockwork system, topped with a trussed rafter roof and finished with full-height external treatments to ensure longevity and visual appeal.

Inside, the building was fitted out in two phases, covering all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) installations, followed by internal finishes including insulation, plastering, carpentry, flooring, and decoration. Each stage was carefully managed to meet the specific design standards required for a modern early years facility.

Despite the logistical challenges of working on a live school site, the project was completed on schedule. Final stages included rigorous system testing, snagging, and landscaping to enhance the surrounding area.

The completed nursery provides a significantly improved space that supports learning, safety, and engagement for young children, while also benefiting staff and the broader school community.

"Great news the development now has an A+ energy performance rating to go with the fantastically low air permeability score. A+ is a true showcase of your finished project and testament to a combination of great design and construction workmanship."
